Daniel Vande Zande, JD, PhD
Dan maintains a general law practice, concentrating in areas of estate planning, trust, probate, real estate, tax and business law. He also serves as the Waupun City Attorney, a position he has heldsince 1992.
Dan has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Waupun since 2000, and is the past Chair of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, having served on that Board from 2005-2015. He has also served as vice chair of a Wisconsin Supreme Court District Committee for the Office of Lawyer Regulation, and currently serves on the Ethics Committee of Agnesian Healthcare.
Dan is a 1986 graduate, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, and holds a Ph.D. in the field of Leadership Studies from Marian University.
Dan has taught law at the doctoral program level, and has presented research on such diverse topics as Free Speech in Public Schools, the Constitutionality of the Wisconsin School Choice Legislation, the role of English jurist Sir Edward Coke in the development of constitutional law, and the English Court of the Star Chamber. He is the author of “Coercive Power and the Demise of the Star Chamber,” published in the Temple University American Journal of Legal History.

Sam Kaufman, JD
Before Sam moved to Wisconsin in 1981, he was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1987. After graduation, Sam worked in the area of consumer and mortgage lending. In 1991, he attended Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where he received his Juris Doctor in 1994. Also in 1994 he was licensed by the State of Wisconsin to practice law. Since being admitted, Sam has continued to represent clients in various areas of general trial practice, including insurance defense, construction defect litigation, Trucker and Auto liability, personal injury, civil litigation, real estate litigation and creditor rights. He is qualified to practice law in the State of Wisconsin and the United States District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. He is also a Fond du Lac County Court Commissioner and a member of the Fond du Lac County Bar Association. Prior to the formation of Vande Zande & Kaufman, LLP, Sam was with the Law Firm of Sager & Colwin Law Offices, S.C. Sam and his wife, Lisa, have one daughter and two sons and reside just outside Waupun.
